In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
