The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! (1) arise and give warning! (2) And your Lord glorify (3) and purify your clothing, (4) And all abomination shun! (5) do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; (6) But for your Lord be patient. (7) So when the Trumpet will be blown. (8) That Day will be a difficult day (9) and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. (10) Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! (11) and appointed for him ample wealth (12) And gave him sons present before him. (13) And made (life) smooth for him. (14) After all that he desires that I should give more; (15) By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. (16) I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. (17) For he thought and he plotted;- (18) (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! (19) Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. (20) Then he looked around, (21) then frowned and scowled; (22) Then turned he away in pride (23) Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; (24) These are only words from a mere mortal". (25) I will soon fling him into hell. (26) And what can make you know what is Saqar? (27) It neither spares, nor releases, (28) it scorches (even) the skin. (29) Over it are appointed nineteen. (30) And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. (31)
