The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, (1) arise and warn, (2) And your Lord glorify (3) And thine inner self purify! (4) and defilement flee! (5) Do not give, thinking to gain greater (6) And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. (7) And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, (8) that very Day shall be a day of anguish, (9) not an easy day for the unbelievers. (10) Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. (11) and designated for him ample wealth, (12) and children living in his presence, (13) And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; (14) then he is eager that I should do more. (15) By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. (16) and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) Indeed, he thought and deliberated. (18) So let him be cursed! How he plotted! (19) Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! (20) He then dared to lift his gaze. (21) then he frowned and scowled, (22) and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, (23) and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; (24) Nothing more than the speech of a man!" (25) I will surely roast him in the Scorching. (26) And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? (27) It leaveth naught; it spareth naught (28) it scorches the skin; (29) there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- (30) And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. (31)
