The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! (1) Arise and warn (2) And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! (3) And your garments purify! (4) Pollution shun! (5) do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; (6) Exercise patience to please your Lord. (7) For when the trumpet is sounded, (8) Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. (9) For the infidels, not easy. (10) Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, (11) whom I have endowed with abundant riches, (12) And sons dwelling in his presence, (13) And for whom I smoothed everything. (14) and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. (15) Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; (16) I will constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) For lo! he did consider; then he planned - (18) Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? (19) And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! (20) Then looked he, (21) Then he frowned and scowled, (22) then he retreated, and waxed proud. (23) and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. (24) These are only words from a mere mortal". (25) [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! (26) And what will make you realize what hell is? (27) It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. (28) making [all truth] visible to mortal man. (29) over it are nineteen. (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
