The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! (1) Arise and deliver thy warning! (2) and magnify the glory of your Lord, (3) thy robes purify (4) and shun uncleanness, (5) And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! (6) Exercise patience to please your Lord. (7) Then when the horn shall be blown, (8) That shall be - that Day - a day hard. (9) Dolorous for the unbelievers. (10) Leave Me alone with he whom I created (11) and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, (12) And sons always present by his side, (13) To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! (14) and who still desires more. (15) By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! (16) On him I shall impose a fearful doom. (17) Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. (18) Perish he! How maliciously he devised! (19) Again, death seized him, how was his determining! (20) May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, (21) then he frowned, and scowled, (22) Then turned he away in pride (23) and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; (24) These are only words from a mere mortal". (25) I will drive him into Saqar. (26) What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? (27) It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; (28) . Scorching the skin. (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. (31)
