The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! (1) Arise and warn! (2) and exalt your Lord, (3) And thine raiment purify. (4) And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! (5) And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). (6) and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) When the trumpet is sounded,. (8) That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, (9) not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! (10) Leave Me and him whom I created alone, (11) And for whom I appointed wealth extended. (12) And sons abiding in his presence (13) And made things easy for them. (14) and who still desires more. (15) By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. (16) I will constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) Verily, he thought and plotted; (18) So let him be cursed! How he plotted! (19) Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - (20) Then he looked round; (21) And frowned and puckered his brow, (22) Then turned his back and waxed proud, (23) and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! (24) This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" (25) [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! (26) And what have you understood, what hell is! (27) It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] (28) Darkening and changing the colour of man! (29) and it has nineteen angelic keepers. (30) We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. (31)
