The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], (1) Arise, and warn, (2) And your Lord glorify (3) thy robes purify (4) and shun uncleanness, (5) and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. (6) For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! (7) Then when the horn shall be blown, (8) it will be a hard day (9) and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. (10) Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, (11) and to whom I have granted resources vast, (12) And children present [with him] (13) and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), (14) Yet he desireth that I should give more. (15) Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself (16) I will constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) Verily he considered, and devised. (18) and woe to him; how he plotted! (19) Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - (20) He then dared to lift his gaze. (21) and then he frowns and glares, (22) Then he turned back and was haughty; (23) Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; (24) This is not but the word of a human being." (25) I will cast him into Hell-fire (26) Would that you really knew what hell is! (27) It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; (28) It scorches people's skin (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. (31)
