The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! (1) Arise and warn! (2) And thy Lord do thou magnify! (3) and purify your clothing, (4) shun uncleanness; (5) And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, (6) And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) When the Trumpet is sounded, (8) it will be a hard day (9) Dolorous for the unbelievers. (10) Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! (11) and to whom I have granted resources vast, (12) and sons ever present with him, (13) And made (life) smooth for him. (14) and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! (15) Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself (16) I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. (17) Verily he considered, and devised. (18) death seize him, how he determined! (19) May be then be accursed, how he plotted! (20) Then he looked, (21) Then he frowned and scowled, (22) then he retreated, and waxed proud. (23) Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; (24) this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” (25) I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. (26) - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - (27) It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. (28) scorching the flesh; (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. (31)
