The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), (1) Arise and warn (2) And thine Lord magnify! (3) thy robes purify (4) shun uncleanness; (5) Do not give, thinking to gain greater (6) And persevere in the way of your Lord. (7) So when the Trumpet will be blown. (8) It will be a day of distress, (9) and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. (10) Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, (11) and whom I have granted abundant wealth (12) and sons that stand in witness. (13) And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; (14) Then he desires that I should add more. (15) Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). (16) We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. (17) Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] (18) Perish he! How maliciously he devised! (19) Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! (20) Then he looked round; (21) then he frowned and scowled, (22) then he retreated and waxed proud, (23) And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; (24) this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” (25) I will surely roast him in the Scorching. (26) and what will teach thee what is Sakar? (27) It neither leaves, nor spares. (28) Darkening and changing the colour of man! (29) Over it are nineteen [angels]. (30) We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. (31)
