The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, (1) stand up, deliver your warning, (2) And thine Lord magnify! (3) thy robes purify (4) And stay away from idols. (5) Do not give, thinking to gain greater (6) And persevere in the way of your Lord. (7) Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); (8) So that is a tough day. (9) and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. (10) Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. (11) And gave him abundant wealth (12) and sons standing before him, (13) To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! (14) And who yet coveteth that shall increase. (15) By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! (16) and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) For he thought and he plotted -- (18) death seized him, how was his determining! (19) Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? (20) Then he thought; (21) Then frowned he and scowled. (22) then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, (23) Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; (24) This is naught else than speech of mortal man. (25) Soon I will cast him into hell. (26) What do you think Hell-fire is? (27) It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], (28) it scorches the skin; (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
