The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, (1) Arise and warn! (2) Glorify your Lord, (3) and purify your clothing, (4) stay away from sins (5) and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, (6) and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); (8) That shall be - that Day - a day hard. (9) For the disbelievers - not easy. (10) Leave Me and him whom I created alone, (11) And to whom I granted extensive wealth (12) And children to be by his side! (13) I made things smooth and easy for him, (14) and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! (15) By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. (16) I will constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) For he thought and he plotted;- (18) death seized him, how was his determining! (19) What an evil plan he has made! (20) Then he looked around, (21) And frowned and puckered his brow, (22) and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, (23) And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; (24) This is naught but the word of a mortal. (25) I will drive him into Saqar. (26) and what will teach thee what is Sakar? (27) It spares not, neither leaves alone (28) It glows and burns the skin. (29) and it has nineteen angelic keepers. (30) And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. (31)
