The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) (1) Arise and warn! (2) And your Lord glorify (3) and purify your robes, (4) And banish all trepidation. (5) And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, (6) And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) When the Trumpet is sounded, (8) that day will be a harsh day, (9) and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. (10) Leave him to Me whom I created alone, (11) and whom I have granted abundant wealth (12) And gave him sons present before him. (13) and made all things smooth for him; (14) Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- (15) Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. (16) I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. (17) He reflected and then hatched a scheme. (18) Perish he! How maliciously he devised! (19) Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; (20) Then looked he, (21) Then he frowned and scowled; (22) and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, (23) and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! (24) 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' (25) Soon I will cast him into hell. (26) And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? (27) Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- (28) It scorches people's skin (29) Over it are Nineteen. (30) And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. (31)
