The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped! (1) arise, and warn! (2) Thy Lord magnify, (3) And your clothing purify (4) And banish all trepidation. (5) Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! (6) And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, (8) that day will be a harsh day, (9) For the disbelievers - not easy. (10) LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, (11) and whom I have granted abundant wealth (12) And gave him sons present before him. (13) and made all things smooth for him; (14) Then he desires that I should add more. (15) Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. (16) Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! (17) Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. (18) And woe to him! How he plotted!- (19) Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- (20) He looked (at others); (21) Then he frowned and scowled, (22) Then he turned back and was arrogant (23) and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! (24) Naught is this but the word of Man. (25) I will surely roast him in the Scorching. (26) - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - (27) It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; (28) it scorches the skin; (29) there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- (30) We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. (31)
