The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) (1) arise and warn, (2) And your Lord (Allah) magnify! (3) And thine raiment purify. (4) And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! (5) And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. (6) For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! (7) For when the trumpet is sounded, (8) So that is a tough day. (9) for the unbelievers not easy. (10) Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- (11) and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, (12) And children present [with him] (13) And made things easy for them. (14) Yet he wants that I should give him more. (15) Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. (16) On him I shall impose a fearful doom. (17) Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] (18) But may he be cursed how he plotted; (19) What an evil plan he has made! (20) Then he looked round; (21) Then frowned he and showed displeasure. (22) then he retreated, and waxed proud. (23) and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; (24) This is naught but the word of a mortal. (25) I will cast him into hell. (26) Would that you really knew what hell is! (27) It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. (28) It shrivelleth the man. (29) Over it are nineteen [powers]. (30) We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. (31)
