The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! (1) Arise and warn, (2) and exalt your Lord, (3) thy robes purify (4) And all defilement shun! (5) And do not confer favor to acquire more (6) And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) And when the trumpet is blown, (8) that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. (9) Dolorous for the unbelievers. (10) Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. (11) And gave him vast wealth. (12) And children to be by his side! (13) and whom I have provided with every resource, (14) Yet he wants that I should give him more. (15) Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. (16) I shall inflict on him hardship, (17) Surely he reflected and guessed, (18) So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. (19) Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! (20) He looked (at others); (21) Then frowned he and showed displeasure. (22) and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, (23) said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. (24) These are only words from a mere mortal". (25) Him shall I soon roast in Hell. (26) And what will make you realize what hell is? (27) It leaves and spares no one and nothing. (28) It glows and burns the skin. (29) Over it are nineteen [powers]. (30) We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. (31)
