Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], (1) Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. (2) (a half of it, or diminish a little, (3) Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, (4) Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. (5) Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). (6) You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. (7) And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. (8) Lord of the East and Lord of the West there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. (9) Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. (10) And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. (11) Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. (12) food that chokes and painful punishment (13) On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. (14) We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. (15) But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. (16) How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, (17) The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. (18) This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. (19)
