Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! (1) Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- (2) Half of it - or subtract from it a little (3) or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. (4) Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. (5) surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, (6) Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. (7) And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. (8) (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. (9) Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. (10) And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: (11) Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, (12) And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom (13) On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. (14) We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. (15) Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. (16) How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, (17) And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. (18) This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. (19)
