In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
