Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou folded in garments! (1) Rise to pray in the night except a little, (2) A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, (3) Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. (4) Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. (5) Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. (6) You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. (7) But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. (8) The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, (9) Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. (10) Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, (11) We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, (12) and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. (13) On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. (14) We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. (15) In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. (16) Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, (17) The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. (18) This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. (19)
