Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, (1) stand up to pray for much of the night. (2) A half thereof, or abate a little thereof (3) and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; (4) We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. (5) Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. (6) Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. (7) And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. (8) Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. (9) Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. (10) And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. (11) Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, (12) And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom (13) On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. (14) Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, (15) But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. (16) How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? (17) The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. (18) This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! (19)
