Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! (1) worship (God) for a few hours at night. (2) half of it, or reduce it a little; (3) and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; (4) Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. (5) Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). (6) Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. (7) Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. (8) (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. (9) And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). (10) And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. (11) Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire (12) choking food and a painful punishment. (13) On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. (14) Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. (15) But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. (16) How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? (17) The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. (18) Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! (19)
