Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou enwrapped! (1) stand up to pray for much of the night. (2) Half of it, or lessen it a little, (3) or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. (4) Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; (5) surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, (6) You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. (7) But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. (8) Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - (9) Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. (10) Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. (11) for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, (12) and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. (13) (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. (14) Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. (15) However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. (16) If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. (17) Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. (18) This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! (19)
