Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, (1) stand up to pray for much of the night. (2) A half thereof, or abate a little thereof (3) Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. (4) Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message (5) Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. (6) During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. (7) And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. (8) (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. (9) And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. (10) And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. (11) We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, (12) and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. (13) On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. (14) Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. (15) But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. (16) How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? (17) Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. (18) This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! (19)
