Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! (1) keep vigil the night, except a little (2) Half of it, or a little less than that, (3) Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. (4) Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). (5) Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. (6) True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: (7) And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. (8) He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. (9) And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. (10) Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. (11) Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire (12) And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. (13) on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move! (14) We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. (15) But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. (16) If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? (17) The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. (18) Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! (19)
