Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! (1) Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. (2) half of it, or reduce it a little; (3) or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; (4) Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). (5) Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. (6) You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. (7) Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. (8) He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. (9) And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). (10) And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. (11) Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire (12) And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. (13) (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. (14) Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. (15) but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. (16) How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? (17) The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. (18) This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. (19)
