Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! (1) Rise to pray in the night except a little, (2) It may be half the night or a little less than that (3) or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. (4) Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). (5) Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. (6) Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, (7) And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. (8) He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. (9) And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. (10) Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. (11) Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. (12) and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, (13) On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. (14) Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). (15) but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. (16) If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, (17) Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. (18) Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. (19)
