Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enwrapped! (1) Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - (2) of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, (3) and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; (4) Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. (5) Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. (6) whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. (7) But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. (8) He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. (9) Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. (10) And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. (11) We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, (12) And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom (13) On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. (14) BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: (15) In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. (16) If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, (17) Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. (18) Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. (19)
