Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, (1) rise (to pray) the night except a little; (2) It may be half the night or a little less than that (3) or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. (4) We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). (5) Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. (6) Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. (7) And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. (8) He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, (9) And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). (10) And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. (11) Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. (12) And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. (13) On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. (14) We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. (15) But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. (16) If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, (17) Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. (18) Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. (19)
