Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], (1) Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. (2) Half of it,- or a little less, (3) Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. (4) Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. (5) Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. (6) During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. (7) But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. (8) Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. (9) And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). (10) And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. (11) Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, (12) And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. (13) On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. (14) We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. (15) and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. (16) So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? (17) On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. (18) Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! (19)
