Juz 29
Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! (1) Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part (2) Half of it - or subtract from it a little (3) or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. (4) We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. (5) Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). (6) Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. (7) Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. (8) He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. (9) And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. (10) Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; (11) We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; (12) choking food and a painful punishment. (13) On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. (14) Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. (15) But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. (16) So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? (17) And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. (18) This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. (19)
