Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, (1) which guides people to the right path and we believe in it. We shall never consider anyone equal to our Lord; (2) Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. (3) The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ (6) And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. (7) "'And [so it happened] that we reached out towards heaven: but we found it filled with mighty guards and flames, (8) We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. (9) We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. (10) Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. (11) We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. (12) And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. (13) And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. (14) but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' (15) [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, (16) "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. (17) "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; (18) And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."
