Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. (1) It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. (2) for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! (3) And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. (4) 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. (5) 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. (6) And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. (7) 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. (8) And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; (9) ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ (10) Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. (11) ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ (12) When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. (13) And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: (14) but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." (15) If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain (16) "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. (17) And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. (18) (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation).
