28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (Muhammad), say, "It has been revealed to me that a party of jinn has listened (to the recitation) of the Quran and has told (their people), "We heard an amazing reading (1) Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: (2) And He - exalted be the majesty of our Lord! hath taken neither a spouse nor a son. (3) The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. (4) And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. (5) 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. (6) So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. (7) And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. (8) And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; (9) And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. (10) As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. (11) We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. (12) 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. (13) And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. (14) 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- (15) (And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. (16) and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment. (17) And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. (18) And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."
