Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, (1) guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, (2) ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ (3) And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. (4) We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, (5) And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: (6) They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. (7) And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. (8) We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. (9) "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: (10) And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. (11) And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (12) 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. (13) "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; (14) And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. (15) If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, (16) So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: (17) All the parts of the body to be placed on the ground during prostration belong to God. (18) "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." (19)
