Juz 29
Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), “I have received the divine revelation that some jinns attentively listened to my recitation, so they said, ‘We have heard a unique Qur’an.’ (1) guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. (2) And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: (3) The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; (6) So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. (7) And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. (8) 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. (9) And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: (10) And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. (11) We have realized that we could never thwart God on earth and that we would never be able to thwart Him by flight. (12) So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. (13) And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: (14) And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. (15) If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, (16) In order to try them through it. But whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, will be given increasing torment by Him." (17) and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; (18) and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. (19)
