Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, (1) It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. (2) 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). (3) 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; (4) 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. (5) And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: (6) And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: (7) 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. (8) We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. (9) And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: (10) And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. (11) 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (12) ‘And that when we heard the guidance, we accepted faith in it; so whoever accepts faith in his Lord, has no fear neither of any loss nor of any injustice.’ (13) Some of us have surrendered (Muslims) and some of us have deviated. Those who surrendered sought the Right Path, (14) However, the deviators from the Truth will be the fuel for hell". (15) If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- (16) That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). (17) The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. (18) When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). (19)
