Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, (1) It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. (2) 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). (3) and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; (4) we never thought that either human or jinn would ever tell a lie against Allah!' (5) Yet [it has always happened] that certain kinds of humans would seek refuge with certain kinds of [such] invisible forces: but these only increased their confusion (6) ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ (7) And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. (8) And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; (9) 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. (10) ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ (11) 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. (12) When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. (13) And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. (14) ‘And as for the unjust they are the fuel of hell.’” (15) Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, (16) That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). (17) And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: (18) When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. (19)
