28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (Muhammad), say, "It has been revealed to me that a party of jinn has listened (to the recitation) of the Quran and has told (their people), "We heard an amazing reading (1) ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ (2) He -- exalted be our Lord's majesty! has not taken to Himself either consort or a son. (3) The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, (4) And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - (5) ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ (6) And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: (7) "'And [so it happened] that we reached out towards heaven: but we found it filled with mighty guards and flames, (8) we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- (9) and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; (10) And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. (11) And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (12) When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. (13) And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. (14) But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. (15) And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision (16) That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. (17) And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: (18) And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."
