Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, (1) guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, (2) and that “He exalted be His Majesty has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; (3) The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. (6) so much so that they came to think, as you [once] thought, that God would never [again] send forth anyone [as His apostle]. (7) And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. (8) We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. (9) And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. (10) ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ (11) "'And withal, we have come to know that we can never elude God [while we live] on earth, and that we can never elude Him by escaping [from life]. (12) ‘And that when we heard the guidance, we accepted faith in it; so whoever accepts faith in his Lord, has no fear neither of any loss nor of any injustice.’ (13) And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. (14) but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' (15) And proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), “I have received the divine revelation that ‘Had they remained upright on the straight path, We would have given them abundant water.’ (16) So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: (17) And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. (18) When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). (19)
