Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (Muhammad), say, "It has been revealed to me that a party of jinn has listened (to the recitation) of the Quran and has told (their people), "We heard an amazing reading (1) which guides people to the right path and we believe in it. We shall never consider anyone equal to our Lord; (2) for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! (3) The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ (6) They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. (7) And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. (8) There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. (9) And so we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends to guide them. (10) Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. (11) 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (12) When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. (13) And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. (14) but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" (15) If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance (16) That We might try them there by. And whosoever turneth aside from the remembrance of his Lord, him He shall thrust into a torment vehement. (17) And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: (18) "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." (19)
