Juz 29
Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Say (O Muhammad SAW): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Quran). They said: 'Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Quran)! (1) Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. (2) and that “He exalted be His Majesty has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; (3) 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; (4) and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. (5) And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: (6) Like you, they thought that Allah would never raise the dead. (7) 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. (8) And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him. (9) And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. (10) And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. (11) ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ (12) When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. (13) And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. (14) And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. (15) If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain (16) so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. (17) And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. (18) Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. (19)
