Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, (1) Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: (2) And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: (3) 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; (4) ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ (5) But there were certain men from mankind who would take refuge with certain males from the jinn and they increased them in tyranny. (6) and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. (7) And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. (8) We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. (9) ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ (10) And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. (11) We have realized that we could never thwart God on earth and that we would never be able to thwart Him by flight. (12) and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; (13) And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; (14) And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. (15) (And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. (16) so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. (17) The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. (18) Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. (19)
