Hizb 58
Juz 29
Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. (1) Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: (2) Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. (3) And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. (4) And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: (5) And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. (6) They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. (7) (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. (8) 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. (9) "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: (10) As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. (11) And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. (12) Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. (13) ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam it is they who have thought rightly.’ (14) But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. (15) [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, (16) In order to try them through it. But whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, will be given increasing torment by Him." (17) The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- (18) And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. (19)
