Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 which guides people to the right path and we believe in it. We shall never consider anyone equal to our Lord; 2 And He - exalted be the majesty of our Lord! hath taken neither a spouse nor a son. 3 And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah: 4 and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 "'And [so it happened] that we reached out towards heaven: but we found it filled with mighty guards and flames, 8 we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 (And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
