Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a party of the jinn listened, and they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful Quran, (1) Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: (2) our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. (3) And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. (4) And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - (5) ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ (6) ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ (7) We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames. (8) ‘And that we sometimes used to sit in some places in the sky, to listen; so whoever now listens finds a fiery comet waiting for him.’ (9) And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. (10) Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. (11) And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: (12) 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. (13) 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: (14) And as to the deviators, they are fuel of hell: (15) If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- (16) So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: (17) And [know] that all worship is due to God [alone]: hence, do not invoke anyone side by side with God! (18) and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. (19)
