Hizb 58
Juz 29
Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, (1) 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). (2) ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ (3) "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, (6) 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). (7) (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. (8) We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. (9) And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. (10) And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. (11) And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (12) And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. (13) "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; (14) but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' (15) If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance (16) So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: (17) The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- (18) And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."
