Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. (1) It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. (2) and exalted is the majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife nor a son. (3) Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God. (4) We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. (5) ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ (6) And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. (7) And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. (8) We used to sit near by and try to listen to the heavens, but shooting flames now await those who try to do that. (9) And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: (10) And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: (11) We know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (12) Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. (13) And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; (14) but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' (15) And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. (16) That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). (17) And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. (18) when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. (19)
