Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: 1 guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, 2 And (we believe) that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord! - hath taken neither wife nor son, 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 "We went near the heavens but found it to be full of strong guards and shooting flames. 8 We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. 17 ‘And that the mosques are for Allah only therefore do not worship anyone along with Allah.’ 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
