Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! (1) Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. (2) 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. (3) 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; (4) and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, (5) 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. (6) And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: (7) And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. (8) We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. (9) And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. (10) And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. (11) We have realized that we could never thwart God on earth and that we would never be able to thwart Him by flight. (12) So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. (13) 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." (14) And as for the Qasitun (disbelievers who deviated from the Right Path), they shall be firewood for Hell, (15) If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- (16) So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. (17) And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: (18) When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. (19)
