Noah (Noah)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
