Noah (Noah)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." (1) He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, (2) That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: (3) so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" (4) He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day (5) but the more I called, the farther they fled. (6) Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. (7) "And behold I called unto them openly; (8) Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: (9) and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! (10) He will send you abundant rain from the sky, (11) And He will add unto you riches and children and will appoint unto you gardens and will appoint unto you rivers. (12) "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, (13) "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? (14) "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, (15) And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? (16) Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, (17) He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. (18) "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), (19) "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" (20)
