Noah (Noah)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." (1) [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, (2) "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, (3) "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." (4) He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day (5) but my calling has only increased them in flight. (6) Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. (7) And lo! I have called unto them aloud, (8) and spoke to them in public and in private." (9) and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, (10) He will send the heaven upon you copiously; (11) increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. (12) What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? (13) And surely He hath created you by stages. (14) Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, (15) And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? (16) And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. (17) And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. (18) Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you (19) "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" (20)
