Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! (1) And what is that indubitable event? (2) And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? (3) THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! (4) But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (5) And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; (6) Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. (7) Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (8) Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. (10) When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, (11) so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. (12) And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, (13) when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (14) On that day shall the great event come to pass, (15) And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. (16) And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! (19) Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) In a lofty Paradise, (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (24) But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, (25) And I had not known what my account was: (26) Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! (27) My wealth has not availed me. (28) My power hath gone from me. (29) (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. (30) Then in the Scorch roast him (31) then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! (32) Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) On this day, they will have no friends (35) nor any food save the filth (36) “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” (37)
