52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The sure calamity! (1) What is the Sure Reality? (2) And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? (3) Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! (4) Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; (5) and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, (6) He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. (10) When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, (11) so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. (12) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (14) on that Day, the Event occurs. (15) And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. (16) and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. (17) That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. (18) Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) They will have a pleasant life (21) in a lofty Garden (22) The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record (25) And knew not what my reckoning! (26) Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! (27) Of no use was even my wealth. (28) and our belief has destroyed us". (29) (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, (30) “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” (31) "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (32) He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; (33) Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. (34) "So no friend hath he here this Day. (35) “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” (36) which none but the sinners eat!" (37)
