52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; (1) What is the Inevitable Calamity? (2) And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! (3) The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. (4) But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (5) and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, (6) He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. (7) Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? (8) And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, (9) and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! (10) We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), (11) making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. (12) Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, (13) And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. (16) And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. (17) On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (18) Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (19) Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) in a lofty Garden (22) its fruits are near. (23) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (24) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25) And not known my account! (26) "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! (27) My riches have not availed me, (28) "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" (29) "Seize him and manacle him, (30) Then cast him into the burning fire, (31) Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - (32) He did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (34) "So no friend hath he here this Day. (35) neither any food saving foul pus, (36) None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). (37)
