Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! (1) What is the Inevitable? (2) And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? (3) Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. (5) And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. (6) Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. (7) Do you see any remnants of them? (8) And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin (9) And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. (10) Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) When a single blow is blown on the Horn, (13) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (14) On that Day will come what is to come. (15) And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, (16) and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. (17) On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (18) So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19) Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) In a lofty garden, (22) The fruits of which are near at hand: (23) (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (24) But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! (25) and that we would never knew what our records contained. (26) Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! (27) "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! (28) I am bereft of power." (29) Lay hold of him and chain him; (30) then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. (31) "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (32) He did not believe in Allah, the Great, (33) Nor urged others to feed the poor. (34) Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. (35) nor any food except foul pus (36) "Which none do eat but those in sin." (37)
