Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! (1) What is the Indubitable? (2) And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? (3) THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! (5) And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind (6) which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (9) They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. (10) [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, (11) In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. (12) With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, (13) And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - (14) on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. (15) and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; (16) and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. (17) The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. (18) Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. (19) I was certain I'll be given my account." (20) And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, (21) in a lofty Garden (22) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. (23) "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" (24) And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (25) and neither known this my account! (26) Oh, would that it had been death! (27) Of no use was even my wealth. (28) my authority is gone from me.' (29) "Seize him and manacle him, (30) Then throw him in the blazing Fire. (31) then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. (32) Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (34) "So no friend hath he here this Day. (35) Nor any food save filthy corruption. (36) which only the sinners eat". (37)
