Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). (1) How tremendous is the true event! (2) And what do you know what that indubitable event is? (3) Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. (4) But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (5) And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind (6) Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! (7) Can you see any remnant of them now? (8) And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. (9) and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. (10) Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. (11) In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. (12) When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, (13) and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! (14) And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; (15) And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, (16) and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. (17) On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. (18) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! (19) "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (20) Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; (21) In a lofty Garden (22) with fruits within easy reach. (23) [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" (24) And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” (25) And had not known what is my account. (26) I wish death had put an end to me. (27) My wealth has availed me nothing: (28) and my authority has vanished.” (29) Seize him and fetter him, (30) Then into Hellfire drive him. (31) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: (32) Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33) and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (34) Today he has been left here friendless; (35) Nor any food save filth (36) None shall eat it but the sinners. (37)
